A Bit More About JWL and My Design Journey

I’ve always been creative, and in a lot of different ways. It was hard for me to decide where to go after my A-levels, but I finally decided to study 3D Design at Staffordshire University. I learnt a lot of different skills; working with a wide range of materials. I specialised in jewellery and mostly worked with wood and various metals. By the time I graduated in 2016 I had a body of work I was really happy with. It explored the connections and differences between urban and natural aesthetics.

Once I’d graduated I knew I wanted to go out and get a studio. That’s when I moved into number 25 at Spode! The studio is like my second home, although I’m not there anywhere near as much as I’d like to be. Since being at the studio I have created all sorts of new pieces. I must admit though, that I have simplified my work a bit too much for my liking.

This brings me to where I’m at now. I’ve just launched the new website and I’m working on getting back to creating pieces that pose more of a challenge as well as still having simpler, everyday wear pieces. I’m still super creative and still love photography and creating various artworks, so a bit of that may creep in every now and then.

I’m also looking at making the business more eco-friendly, as this fits my vision for the brand a lot more. I want to start using recycled silver and making sure that my packaging is made out of recycled materials and can be recycled. I already use up a lot of my waste silver by creating the pebble series, but anything I don’t use, I save up and send-off to be recycled.

My goal is to create a more lifestyle orientated brand that focuses on creating high quality products that help you express your unique style.

There’s going to be more changes coming soon and hopefully lots of new products, so make sure you keep up to date, all links are below, and if you sign up to my mailing list you get 10% off your first order!
